  Inverness museum holds material from all over the Highlands, largely donated by local people. The museum exists to manage, preserve and enhance these collections and to make them available, through display, publication and study, to as wide an audience as possible. The museum welcomes students and private researchers and the reserve collections, museum library and research facilities are all open to the public by appointment. Access to the Inverness Area Archaeological Sites & Monuments Records is also available.
